Catch-a-Fire Pizza is doing our part to help save our planet by partnering with the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub, also a 1% for the Planet member, to revolutionize how people think about “things” and to provide a place where almost anything can be recycled or reused.
We are hosting a Give Back fundraiser to raise some dough for a one-stop drop off location in the center of Cincinnati for hard to recycle recyclables. 20% of every purchase at our Blue Ash, Lebanon, and Oakley locations on March 6th from 11:00-9:00 PM will get donated.
We also offer gift cards to those interested.
About the Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub
The Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub (CRRH, or the Hub) reduces the amount of waste going to landfills through our one-stop drop-off location where we accept items and materials that are recyclable and reusable, even some that are not permitted in traditional recycling bins. The one-stop model is unique in that it saves time, effort, and gas for donors, and it allows for more items to be recycled or reused than the current waste/recycling/reuse infrastructure for the Greater Cincinnati Area does. The Hub is the only organization in Greater Cincinnati accepting such a vast amount of items for the general public to recycle in one place.
In the future, we hope to expand into a more permanent space and collect items from area businesses, schools, and other organizations to increase overall recycling and reuse in the region. It is also our goal to provide educational programs. Ultimately, we are developing a community that promotes awareness of the full lifecycles of items, reduces consumption, finds creative reuse opportunities, and properly recycles.
Currently, the Hub is run by a small, hard-working staff and many volunteers. We hope to eventually employ adults with developmental disabilities to help with many of the Hub's day-to-day operations.
The long-term plan for CRRH includes several smaller satellite drop-off locations throughout the Greater Cincinnati Area, with sorting and distribution taking place at the main Hub location. CRRH hopes to continually increase the sorting capacity at the Hub by installing optical scanners and other automation to help sort some of the items. As other regional sustainability programs begin, CRRH hopes to build on these area partnerships, such as those dealing with reusable takeout food containers, incentivized reverse-vending for beverage containers, and decentralized composting.
